Pay it Forward - Hurry Jump on Board!!

I got this from Polly Pratt and thought i would give it a go.

    Here's the deal:
I am entering into the following contract with the first 5 people who comment on this post and then commit to do the same on their blog. Just read below and if you feel up to the task copy the following into your blog and leave me a comment. I am willing to post overseas (I am in Australia, but remember you must commit on your blog to do the same to others).
    1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make. Whatcha get is whatcha get.2. What I create will be just for you, with love.3. It’ll be done this year (2009).4. I will not give you any clue what it’s going to be. It will be something made in the real world and not something cyber. It may be weird or beautiful. Or it may be monstrous and annoying. Heck, I might bake something for you and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that’s for sure!5. I reserve the right to do something strange.6. In return, all you need to do is post this text on your blog and make 5 things for the first 5 to respond to your blog post.
    7. Send your mailing address - after I contact you.
Welcome to everyone. I will however, make an effort to do something that you like based on what I see on your blog, BUT there are no guarantees.
    So that's that!!
    Brilliant, I'm excited - who's on board???

    Back to Etsy

I haven't had anything on Etsy for a while - but with my renewed interest in my lampwork creations and some silversmithing work - I have started to load some items in my store - This is the first to jump into the store - These items are purely one offs as it is hard to recreate them.  This one is on Etsy for $30US.

Amazing Three Days of Glass Bliss

Yesterday and today I have been at the most amazing Glass Workshop.  Bernie Stonor, from Kangaroo Island, has been instructing myself and other glass addicts how to make imploded glass pendants.  They are the most amazing little gems - magical and mystical.  The workshop is being hosted by the lovely Tracy A Brown from Wildlight Studios in East Mt Gravatt, Brisbane.  Tracy is also a highly regarded teacher in her own right - so to have two highly talented people in the same room over three days is a mind blowing experience.  You just can't get this sort of information from a book!.

I have included some photos of my first day attempts - Can wait to see the improvement by the end of day three.  I have just put two more pendants in the kiln about 30min ago - and I feel they are 100% better than what I did yesterday - Practice, Practice, Practice.

This is a pendant that I bought from Bernie - Incredible! - Looks like underwater coral - Lets see if I can do that by Monday ( he has been doing this for 30 years - so maybe I might need more than three days to perfect this one!)

A Clucky Brood & Pattern Giveaway

I finished a project! - I am so excited with myself.  I was determined to finish a project within a week and I have done it.

I completed one of the new patterns from Melly & me - Clucky.  By leaving a comment on this post you will go into the draw to win the pattern so you can add to the hen house as well.

I thought I would also add a photo of my space I work from at home. I just wish I had time to organise it better, but I can't complain as it is all my own space and I rarely have to compete for it.

I have alot of new Melly & me patterns in store - so visit my website to check out some of the new designs.

Fabric Buttons and Yo Yo's for Jewellery

A couple of days ago I received my fabric pack from Kimono House - I am part of the Fabric Club and we are sent swatches of fabric that is new to the store.  I often wonder what to do with small pieces of fabric since I don't do a lot of quilting.  The jewellery designer came out in me today and a couple of ideas popped into my head.

I have used some the the fabric to make small yo yo's with the help of a clover yo yo maker and also some extra large self covering metal buttons.

I am attaching jump rings (sewn on) to the yo yos so that I can attach them to the jewellery design - not to sure yet what I will do - but it is a start.

I also made a yo yo flower and attached one of my handcrafted lampwork beads for the centre - the colours just went together so well I couldn't resist.  The button and the beaded flower will become the focals of my design.

I just loved the sample of fabric that had the bird on it - I think I must buy some more of this one it is so cute.

And we are off and racing........

Kerri and I are heading to the Ipswich Cup today - we scored some free tickets to one of the sponsor's tents.  We will be treated to food and drinks in the comfort of the Lion Nathan Tent.

We have sold a fair few fascinators and jewellery items to the girls going to the cup, it is a massive social event here in Ipswich.  So we will be on the look out for our handiwork around the track.

Jim is looking after the shop today, and my parents are turning up this afternoon to help celebrate Ella's 4th birthday tomorrow, so this means that I must behave myself today and come home at a reasonable hour and in a reasonable state.

I can't remember that last time I have had a Saturday morning home alone.... it has been too too long.

So here I am alone, about to get dressed and do a quick house clean before Mum and Dad arrive.

I am soooo excited about my girls day out!

    Frosty Morning and Frosty Cupcakes

Well I had a busy and very cold morning today - here is Ipswich it was -2 degrees and our first frost of the winter has fallen.  I was up until 10.30pm last night making cupcakes for miss Ella to take to Kindy as she turns 4 this Sunday!

I made the frost topping this morning at 5.30am and when Ella awoke she dunked them into the sprinkles - quite yummy all by themselves so she tells me.

So off to Kindy Daddy and I go with our mother load of nutrition with Ella trailing behind.
